SAPS will not tolerate fraudulent cases.

Do you lock your doors?

More than 60 house breaking cases have been reported in Vosman in the past two weeks, Mpumalanga police said on Tuesday.

In most of the crimes the perpetrators gained unforced entry to the premises, said Assistant Commissioner Nico O’Kelly in a statement.

“Despite the police initiatives to sensitise the community on how to be safe, ignorance still remains the prime reason for the occurrence of this crime.”

O’Kelly said it was more disturbing that in quite a number of the alleged crimes there was a suspicion that cases were merely opened to claim from insurers.

“The allegations are under investigation and will hopefully result in arrests in due course,” he said.

“The SAPS will not tolerate fraudulent cases to be reported through police systems. I shall research each and every individual case until I am sure that a real crime is being committed.”

Every doubtful case docket would be referred to a detective who would work with insurance companies to investigate possible fraud. – Sapa
